Holiday Nut Mix Recipe

1 Can Gorbonzo beans toasted in oven at 400 degrees. Take out and add 1 cup of pistacios and 1 Cup of almonds and sprinkle rosemary, thyme and salt and season to taste with EVOO and put back in oven for 10 minutes.

Holiday Biscuits

2 C. Flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 Tbsp. baking powder
5 Tbsp. of cold butter

Mix to coarse meal. Add 1/2 C. buttermilk, gorgonzola cheese and dry salami. Scoop out with ice cream scoop and put in oven for 10 min. on 425 degrees. Oven temp. may vary.

School Bus Fare Hikes

Looking for something to do on FURLOUGH FRIDAY

Yesterday at Pearl Harbor they had just closed the USS BOWFIN for the filming of LOST! Why not make it both educational and fun to watch them film scenes for LOST! There is a museum by the bowfin and then go over to USS ARIZONA to watch the movie and then go on the boat. It takes 75 minutes for the USS ARIZONA side. The movie is very sad but informative.
Due to the USS BOWFIN CLOSED, they are only charging 5 dollars kamaaina rate for the museum with headphones. And there are no bags and purses allowed and strollers. Either pay the 3 dollars for storage or you can leave it at home and or car. This is all due to 9/11 increased security measure.
The USS MISSOURI is closed until JANUARY 2010.
And seeing that the historical date is coming up on DECEMBER 7th and the year was 1941.

Turtles Were Released Out to Sea

I was at the Kahala on Wednesday and just happen to be there in the afternoon where they released 2 green sea turtles into the wild blue ocean. They were born at Sea Life Park and had lived at the Kahala for about four years. It was like a graduation ceremony where the parents that raised them were sobbing. The green sea turtles are doing so well that they are off the endangered species list. It was very moving and educational. So, basically I wanted to share that don't look to hard for the turtles when you go to Kahala Hotel.

Special padding for football helmets can save your child a head injury while playing football. They are called Xenith helmets. High school football causes lots of concussions in chldren due to heavy impact while playing. Please be aware of your child after a head trauma. When in doubt, check it out by your physician. State Workers LAYOFFS

Friday November 13th begins the massive layoffs with 84 people out of jobs. This adds to the national unemployment rate of 10.2 percent. The number should actually be at 17 percent of unaccounted layoffs. The state of Hawaii will add 384 more people being laid off by next Friday. Then in December another 181 people will lose their jobs. That is a total of 649 people laid off from the state of Hawaii adding to the national unemployment rate.

CAKE KEEPER CAKES by Lauren Chattman
PUMPKIN CHOC. CHIP POUND CAKE
1 3/4 C. Flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamin
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cloves
pinch of nutmeg
1/2 C. unsalted butter
1 1/4 C. sugar
3 eggs
1 C. Pumpkin puree- not the artifcial one-make sure its real pumpkin
1/3 C. Milk
1 C. Choc. Chip
1 tsp. vanilla
Put in muffin tins or loaf pan on 350 degrees from 45 to 1 hour depending on your oven. Use a toothpick and if nothing comes out, then its ready. When baking, always remember to combine and wet and dry ingredients seperately and then mix. So, dry foods first, make sure everything is at room temperature and add the eggs slowly and they recommend one at a time.

Easy and Fun Recipe for Football-PINWHEELS

Buy and or make your own pizza dough and have some flour to roll out the dough.
Put a layer of mozzerella, prosciutto, baby spinach and then a little more cheese, season it with some salt and peper, and then roll it like a burrito and tuck in the sides and ends underneath.
Place on baking sheet and brush with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle on salt and pepper and if you want to be really fancy try some sesame seeds white and or black and some parmesan cheese for some extra flavor and or to add a kick of red chli flakes.
Put in the oven at 425 degrees for 25 min.
Cut about a 1/4 inch and place onto serving tray.
